Advantages of Using Fulvic and Humic Acid

an fish stew Advantages of Using Fulvic and Humic Acid

Miracle molecules, fulvic, and humic acids are usually sold separately, but they serve similar functions in general hydroponic growing systems. Fulvic and humic acids are one of the most important components of organic matter. They are organic bio-stimulant that contains three very important components such as humic, fulvic, and Humin. Both fulvic and humic acids are compounds composed of several atoms that are found in both soil and sedimentary environmental conditions. Fulvic and humic acid can increase energy production by plants during photosynthesis. Here are the advantages of using fulvic and humic acid.

Fulvic acid:

  • Fulvic acid has incredible potential when used for hydroponic applications and as a foliar spray.
  • It helps to increase the permeability of plant cells by increasing nutrient uptake.
  • Fulvic acid works as a shock absorber as the nitrogen it contains is slowly released.

Humic Acid:

  • Humic acid helps to supply more water to the root zone.
  • It increases overall plant nutrition.
  • Offers better survival rate for seedlings, grafts, transplants, and cuttings.
  • Provides resistance to disease, insects, drought, heat, and stress.
  • Responsible for strong growth and higher quality harvests.
  • It helps to increase germination and viability of seeds.
  • It also helps to boost quantity of yields and improve nutritional value.

Rooftop Hydroponic Farming

Rooftop Hydroponic Garden 2 Rooftop Hydroponic Farming

Many city dwellers do not have the space and adequate soil to build gardens. Do you live in the city and wish you could grow your own fruits and vegetables?  Why don’t you try to create your own hydroponic garden on the roof of your building? Rooftop hydroponic gardening is becoming more and more popular nowadays. A hydroponic rooftop garden would be an excellent choice for you if you want to have a hassle free gardening experience. A balcony or roof deck can easily be used to grow your favorite fruits and vegetables throughout the year. Before you start your rooftop garden, it is important to have the roof checked to make sure it can support the added weight of a garden.

To start rooftop hydroponic gardening, you should decide on what plants or herbs you want to grow and how many of each.  Once you decide the amount of plants you want to grow, you need to get plastic containers or plastic tubes to grow your plants. Next, you need to cut holes in them to place your potted plants properly. You can either buy seedlings from market or grow your own seedlings. Once you have your seedlings, take them out of their pots, and rinse the roots to remove the dirt. After washing them properly, you need to place your plants in some sort of growing medium such as rockwool, vermiculite, or hydroton and then fed with a nutrient solution to make them grow.

Nutrients are very important for healthy growth of hydroponic plants. You can prepare your own nutrients solution or buy premixed nutrient mixes available in the market. Since plants have different nutrient requirements during different stages of development, you need to maintain the pH level of nutrient solutions between 5.5 and 6, and monitor the strength on a daily basis with the help of pH tester. To control the chemical balance of nutrients and water, you need to add water as water evaporates on its own. Hydroponic plants should be checked regularly for about 12 to 18 weeks to make sure that your garden is free from pest problems. Pests are very annoying and harmful, so try to keep pests away from your garden, and try to prevent your roots from rotting. You can take help of biological pest control process to get rid of problems caused by pests.

How Easy Is Cloning Using Hydroponics Systems?

Cloning is the most commonly used technique to get plants with the same genetic package growing together in a hydroponic system. For high yielding hydroponics, you should use cutting method of cloning plants.

Cloning is an easy process of taking a cutting from mature female plant in the vegetative growth stage to obtain a wide variety of plants without using seeds. It is important to choose a healthy mother plant because any infections on the source of plant will likely be passed to new plants. You need to cut the stem off at a 45-degree angle and work quickly to get the cutting into the cup of rooting solution. Let your cutting soak in a good quality hormone solution for a minute. Then you need to place your clone into the hydroponic growing medium and soak it in a rooting solution that has pH value of 5.5. Leave it overnight in a water tight container of rooting solution and set the pre-soaked growing medium in your hydroponic growing tray. After placing cuttings in the growing medium, water with nutrient solution to keep them moist. By that time, you should make sure that your clones are getting adequate amount of light and humidity to grow properly. Now, it is the time to cover your plants and expose them to natural or artificial sunlight for up to 18 hours per day. Plants usually take 2 to 4 weeks to root properly.
